    This is an exciting and dynamic role, within the Chelmsford Defence Business Unit in RF Power. We have a lot of high value opportunities to progress with customers and require someone to champion RF Safe-Stop and Novel Projects internally, as well as overseeing customer interaction at the concept stage.


    The growth of the Business Unit is dependent upon the effective and timely communication surrounding initial customer enquiry, allocation of resources for field trials and management of multi-year support contracts for our leading Defence customers. Through understanding of the relevant market place, and by working with Sales, Business Development and Engineering Groups, the Product Support Manager will facilitate a wide range of activities to achieve or exceed our revenue targets.


    The successful candidate will require a close working relationship with Project Management, leading the initial front end of the business, to ensure a successful hand over to Project delivery. A strong level of commercial awareness is required to ensure the voice of the customer is portrayed internally, for the formation of Bids, timescales for demonstrations and commercial proposals.


    The Product Support Manager, will effectively manage our customer funded support contracts, coordinate Novel Project based bids and engage with the customer to progress our opportunities.

    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    • Take ownership and manage our multi-year support contracts including renewals and maintenance
    • Through extensive customer contact, prepare exciting customer proposals, delivered on time, working to continuously improve quotation turnaround time
    • Deliver on effective RF SafeStop customer demonstrations on a global basis, by leading on customer invitations, logistics for field trials and opportunity follow-up
    • Support the delivery of the Business Unit plans, working to ensure the correct internal and external resources are available and utilised. This will include work with external third parties to assess partnership opportunities 
    • Own the opportunity pipeline for Novel solutions and RF Safe-Stop, which requires working closely with Sales, Project Management and other internal teams
    • Encourage and construct exceptional working relationships within teams, stakeholders and customers to promote project engagement and successful delivery against both project and business objectives
    • Co-ordinate the New Product Introduction process from Enquiry through Bid to Order, ensuring that all new business can be adequately resourced and delivered profitably
    • Work to improve profitability and Customer Satisfaction by representing the customer internally on Deliveries, Quality and Returns
    • Help to engage, energise and motivate the teams in Sales, Operations and Finance to successfully integrate the plan into those parts of the company and their objectives


    • Commercial understanding of business functions including Finance, Sales, Operations and Purchasing
    • Understanding of the defence market and customers
    • Project Management experience an advantage
    • Demonstrable proactive behaviour towards all business areas
    • Detailed working knowledge of Excel and data manipulation
    • Fluency in both written and verbal English language
    • Manage and prioritise own workload
    • Communicate the overall vision to all levels of an organisation
    • Indirectly manage diverse teams, including both internal and external resources
    • Experience of using Enterprise Resource Planning and Customer Relationship Management tools such as SAP, SAP CRM or equivalent
    • Full UK driving licence
    • SC level security clearance
