    The Project Manager will take responsibility for the realisation and delivery of customer funded projects acting as the prime customer interface. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, manufacture, test and delivery of imaging projects for space and astronomy applications within e2v’s Space Imaging division. He/She will also take prime responsibility with their team, to deliver a contractually technical compliant solution on time and within budget, whilst managing and mitigating issues and risk.

    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    • Initiation, execution, monitoring and controlling the projects lifecycle to ensure delivery, within Schedule, Performance & Cost. This includes creating plans and proposals for new activities.
    • To ensure that the Project’s processes adhere to agreed company procedures and standards at all times and ensuring that any Corporate & Legislative requirements are meet.
    • To provide effective leadership, motivation and appropriate people management of the project’s team members
    • Manage project uncertainty through planning and risk management, establishing appropriate mitigations and contingency plans.
    • Prepare and publish project plans and required documentation throughout the project lifecycle including bids, tender vets.
    • Effectively communicate project performance, issues and risks to all stakeholders (and where appropriate manage expectations) for projects.
    • Ensure that all aspects of a project are coherently and effectively joined to all other facets of the business. This includes support services (e.g. compliance, DO & purchasing), manufacturing as well as marketing and Sales.
    • Support improvement opportunities within the business including continuous improvement of Project Management process.
    • Lead Project reviews and feedback issues to the wider organisation.
    • Lead the customer/project interface, working with the customer to develop future opportunities, liaising with business development to keep them up to date with current and future developments.


    Essential Experience/Competencies:

    • Experience of successfully delivering complex projects using recognised project management methodologies;
    • Demonstrated successful management of project finances;
    • A proven track record of successful risk management  and development of mitigation plans;
    • Outstanding presentation & negotiation skills and the ability to use;
    • Good awareness of export legislation;
    • Fluent English (written and spoken)

    Desired Experience/Competencies:

    • Able to demonstrate successful project execution within similar technical industry
    • Experience of mentoring or coaching
    • Ability to interpret internal/external business issues and recommend best practice in own discipline
    • Ability to demonstrate complex problem solving in practice (with root cause analysis)
    • Experience of project managing a large project portfolio
    • Experience of successfully project managing Imaging technology based projects
    • Good understanding of Imaging manufacturing processes
    • French speaking (or other languages), a distinct advantage

    Desired Qualifications:

    PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) or APM Practitioner Qualification (APMPQ) or equivalent. A Bachelors degree or Masters is preferable
