As a part of our growth in this high-technology market, Teledyne DALSA is recruiting in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) for the following opening
(Senior) NPI Assembly Engineer.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Delivery of new processes, tools and materials during new product development projects

The (Senior) NPI Assembly Engineer supports in developing new processes and products and keeps focus on manufacturability of these products during the development phases.

 

Key activities:

  • Specifies and develops new processes that are suitable and workable for production, together with R&D.
  • Consults with R&D employees and Senior Group Managers on the new programs and make an abstraction of it on the best processes and materials for the new development projects.
  • Reports risks and bottlenecks to the Project Leader and Manager.
  • Evaluates the achieved results during the process development and proposes new experiments, based on these results.
  • Is responsible for reporting the developed processes with the achieved results within the expected project timelines.
  • Takes the lead in supplier selection of new tools and materials. Defines, discusses and aligns the specification of these tools and materials to order and make the selection of the supplier together with Purchaser.
  • After process release, the NPI assembly engineer supports/initiates process-, equipment- and efficiency actions to improve yield.
  • Is project team member during the development of new products and assembly processes in the above areas, especially in the industrialization phase.
  • Supports, advises and consults with Process-, Product-, Test-, Q&R-, and Assembly Engineers of the Manufacturing Centre(s), on experiments in the context of process- / product development and release of processes, equipment or tools and work instructions.
  • Supports, advises and consults with suppliers of equipment and materials/consumables for purchasing.
  • Is responsible for the development and / or acquisition of new / improved analysis techniques, taking high quality and cost conscious manufacturing into account.
  • Initiates, supports and joins improvement, optimization and cost down projects in manufacturing.
  • Writes assembly procedures/protocols/work instructions.
  • Is responsible for all documentation, procedures and (safety) datasheets to be in place, as part of the release.
  • Is responsible for internal specifications, relative to the customer specifications and ensures correct and complete implementation after approval.
  • Executes Business Support activities based on immediate business needs.

Additional for Senior level:

  • During process development, the Senior NPI engineer defines and evaluates the best processes for the new products and transfer these into the production line. He/She will set-up meetings with the R&D team to define these processes and the required tools.
  • Has the lead in transferring processes to other business units within Teledyne DALSA.
  • Maximizes effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing processes and creates a consistent flow of quality work meeting the requirements and customer’s demand.
  • Examine the need for and the impact of specification changes.
  • The Senior NPI Process Engineer continuously increases the competence level of the group.

Implementation and release of new assembly processes

The (Senior) NPI Assembly Engineer optimizes the processes for high yields and low costs including the required documentation for transferring this process and products into production and delivering support to production till the process is released and the expected yields are achieved.

 

Key activities:

  • Maximizes effectiveness and efficiency of the manufacturing processes and creates a consistent flow of quality work meeting the requirements and customer’s demand.
  • Integrates the new processes in the Industrial Operations Department to be released for production.
  • Shows process capability of new processes.
  • Examine the need for and the impact of specification changes. 

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering Degree in Chemistry, Physics or Mechanics (Bachelor), and a strong interest in process engineering and high-tech manufacturing processes.
  • At minimum, five years of previous work experience.
  • Process characterization and continuous process and yield improvements are part of the responsibilities.
  • Broad technical experience.

  • Familiar with Health and Safety (Arbo) and environment.
  • Knowledge of Shop Floor Control programs, Statistical programs and standard software packages.
