Our Quantum Technology team is developing technologies in order to access new high margin niche markets with revolutionary timing and gravity products, in space and on the  ground. High precision and accuracy timing solutions are crucial for the synchronization of large networks in telecoms and for navigation while gravity sensors could detect objects beneath the ground for the construction sector and benefit future science space missions.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Senior Engineer will be a key team member of the current project team developing and building a compact atomic clock, designed for various applications including safe transport links, 5G mobile communications and data networks. The responsibilities of the role includes the following:

  • Contribute to integration, testing and optimisation
  • Providing inputs to development of system and subsystem level testing
  • Provide technical support to the project team including regular reporting on progress, resolution of technical issues and contributing to project gate reviews
  • Be responsible for the generation and execution of test plans
  • Help to optimise and develop the system using defined techniques and tools as defined by the programme.
  • Support the development of the product through the product lifecycle from concept design to prototyping and finally production
  • Establish data analysis and visualisation processes for critical parameters using tools Python to interpret data outputs


The candidate shall have:

  • A degree in physics or a related engineering discipline
  • Practical experience working in an industrial research and development environment
  • Demonstrated experience using programming languages for data analysis such as python
  • Awareness of integration and testing of electronic components and subsystems
  • It is also desirable that the candidate shall have knowledge or use of spectroscopy in a scientific or industrial environment
  • Experience working in a project based format

In addition we are looking for a candidate with good communication and negotiation skills, an attention to detail and comfortable working within a lab based environment.
