Position Summary and Responsibilities

  • Leading and managing day to day activities of a team of multi skillset production operatives across the shift pattern.
  • Providing guidance and Leadership to Cell Leaders managing individual production areas
  • Plan and co-ordinate staff availability including holiday authorisation, management of absenteeism and disciplinary issues in liaison with HR, ensuring continued staff availability for shift patterns
  • Working with Production Management team to develop and enhance current and new LEAN Manufacturing processes, tools and techniques
  • Setting production targets and goals in conjunction with the Operations Management for their department
  • Providing updates to Operations Management Team and other service or supply departments on production activities
  • Managing and presenting local area Key Performance Indicator information to the team
  • Ensuring adherence to all manufacturing process, specifications and quality management systems and generation of NCR’s (Non-Conformance Reports) where required
  • In conjunction with the Senior Production Manager establish the pipleline production activity required for each week within the department to ensure targets are achieved
  • Ensuring equipment availability for all operatives to carry out production duties is planned and managed
  • Working with other departments to ensure maintenance and calibration controls of all equipment is carried out in line with company policies
  • Maintenance and control of all ESD, 5S, consumables, notices and housekeeping requirements for their areas
  • Assisting in Continuous Improvements processes, activities and ideas to enable to continued evolution of the production department
  • Communicating team briefs
  • Carry out annual performance appraisals of your shift team members
  • Evaluating Training and development requirements through the company skills matrix to ensure a multi-flexible team
  • Carrying out disciplinary activity and counselling of manufacturing team members as required.
  • Manage and monitor Labour Utilisation and Labour Recovery with regular reviews, implementing improvements with the use of Lean tools and techniques.

Qualifications

  • Degree/HND/HNC or Equivalent experience
  • Have a good understanding of Lean Manufacturing relating to SMED, 5S and Value Stream Mapping to be able to identify and execute annual cost savings
  • Strong production leadership and management experience of multiskilled teams
  • Experience of implementing and developing LEAN practices
  • Experience of working in a complex manufacturing environment – Ideally Electronics/Automotive/Space/Engineering areas or similar
  • Experience of using MS Office packages
  • Experience of contributing towards continuous improvement activities
  • Ideally have knowledge of working with MRP systems
  • You should have strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate with different stakeholders and teams.  Strong organisational skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
