    This role provides a technical draughting service to the product groups, working concurrently with engineers, to action change requests and raise technical documentation for product data packages or manufacturing equipment, to relevant company standards. They will form part of a mechanical design team that is situated within the Engineering Services group, other disciplines within Engineering Services include PCB Design, Numerical Modelling, Mechanical Design, Reliability Engineering, Model Shop and Documentation Control. This role will also be expected to support the lead designers in the design, development and delivery of components and systems within the RF Power division and other divisions if required.

    Position Summary and Responsibilities

    To be successful in this role, you are likely to: -

    1. Generate and maintain Product Data Package documentation that accurately defines the product utilising 2D CAD or 3D solid modelling tools and other appropriate software.
    2. Produce documents that meet the customer’s technical, quality and safety requirements that are capable of cost-effective manufacture.
    3. Providing advice on basic mechanical design issues such as solving basic mechanical design problems, Interpretation of engineering drawings, material selection etc.
    4. Researching background information from a variety of sources in support of mechanical design decisions
    5. Timely action of engineering change requests in accordance with company procedures, and progress them through the design office to completion.
    6. Ensure that any work packages assigned to you are completed on time and within budget.
    7. Support the lead designers, working closely with the Product Group and other Engineering Personnel to design new and enhance existing products, and manufacturing equipment by applying Mechanical Design knowledge and skills.
    8. Provide support to the design and change of the company’s product labels.
    9. Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE)

    The role holder is also responsible OHSE and must:-

    • Champion our Health and Safety standards, procedures and company rules;
    • Intervene, correct (where able to) and report all unsafe or non-compliant situations by taking action (e.g. hazard spots) and reporting near misses;
    • Demonstrate a duty of care towards those you come in contact with and work with and proactively escalate potential Health and Safety issues as and where appropriate;
    • Support and promote the e2v Safety, Health and Environment Leadership Team (SHELT) programme to strengthen our Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) culture for proactive and continuous improvement of our OHSE programs which provide for a productive and safe working environment.

    Qualifications

    Job specific requirements (Essential)

    1. Competent in technical draughting
    2. Understand drawing GD&T to a competent level
    3. Competent level of mechanical design knowledge and application (machining, sheet metal fabrication, joining techniques etc.)
    4. Proficient use of 2D and 3D CAD packages (PTC Creo, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD).
    5. Knowledge and experience of applying design and drawing standards such as BS8888.
    6. Experience of product and document configuration management, including completing engineering change requests
    7. Disciplined approach and good communication skills
    8. Be proactive in seeking resolutions to problems
    9. Ability to effectively manage time and costs
    10. Ability to motivate self to carry out tasks efficiently and effectively and to track progress to deal with any issues as they arise
    11. N.C. or equivalent qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline

    Job specific requirements (Desirable)

    1. Understanding of material science
    2. Ability to develop and maintain a strong network across different functional and project groups
    3. Familiar with DFSS methodology and associated techniques (e.g. Design For Manufacture and Assembly and Design For Cost)
    4. Use of Bartender label software and printer
